Safeway Drive Away's history began in 1978, delivering school buses for a few individuals at Wayne Works located in Richmond, IN. Owners Phil and Kathy Bocook delivered only for Wayne Works. It later became Carpenter Bus. When the doors closed in 2001, other opportunities opened up all over the U.S. and Safeway grew rapidly. In January 2018 Safeway Drive Away merged with Hoosier Transit and is owned by Tom Ladd.
